Why choose kiln-dried firewood?
Drier firewood burns at higher temperatures. Wet or partially seasoned wood burns cooler and can cause tarring and flue issues. Most stove manufacturers recommend using properly seasoned or kiln-dried firewood. Remember, buying firewood by weight means paying for water content; it’s better to purchase by volume.
What wood species do you offer?
We believe the best firewood species in the UK are hornbeam, oak, birch and beech. Some companies may offer “kiln-dried hardwood” that includes inferior species like poplar and aspen. Always inquire about the specific wood species being sold.
How should I store my firewood?
Keep your firewood covered on top with waterproof material, but leave the sides open for ventilation, and raise it off the ground. Our 1m³ and 2m³ pallets can serve as ready-made log stores; just add a waterproof crate cover. Alternatively, store wood in a well-ventilated shed or garage.
